We have tomorrow off work, it is a bank holiday to celebrate Australia Day, basically a day to celebrate…well being Australian.

So, I am embracing it wholeheartedly: I am gonna tie my kangaroo down (an aside, why did he want his Kangaroo tied down?, only one reason I know!); have a “root in my ute”, dust off my hat with corks and call everyone Bruce or Sheila

The Irish celebrate St Paddy’s day; the Scots have first footing; the Aussies have Australia Day, the French have Bastille day, the US have independence day and Thanksgiving….. why do the English not celebrate St. George’s Day!?! OK so we have Guy Fawkes Night but is that the same?

Anyway, Happy Australia Day, it’s 30 odd degrees and sunny, raise a beer for us downunder

Ok, I have been looking at the news sites and it amazes me of what goes into the swearing in of the new US President.

The one thing that makes me smile is this: at 12.01pm the lead Secret Service Agent moves from behind George W Fuckwit to stand behind Barack Obama, signaling the change of Presidency.

There are 40,000 security troops, including police, army and SS.

There are 2,000,000 people in Washington DC to see it (Bush was excelerated away as he was pelted with tomatos or is it tomatoes)

The World is holding their breath, here, in the UK, the Commonwealth and to many places to mention, waiting for the change…. but are we hoping for too much too soon?

I am over the moon, estactic for the change. Many of you know who know me, and read this blog, that I hate Bush, not just hate him but think he is the devil. But I am open-minded that it will take time to change 8 years of idiocy!

So, it is a time of change, not just in the US, but in the world too

I will raise a glass tomorrow to Barack Obama and keep hoping that what he promises will come true.

So all I can say is “Bush is dead, Bush is dead”

I hope, pray and hope, that 2009 is the sea of change…..

As many of you know, I do not have a problem with getting older at all. I don’t mind the gray hair, or the gray hair that is starting to appear in my beard. Or even the wrinkles around the eyes that used to be laughter lines.I am trying to grow old disgracefully as well (see last post)

So I went to the opticians today to have my eyes tested (been about 16 years since the last test)

So my eyes haven’t got worse, the right hand one is the same as before, the left is almost perfect (it has actually got better)

But my glasses are fucked, they are wobbly and missing bits. So I am now the proud owner of daily disposible contact lenses….. by the way, putting shit in your eyes like them is weird, with a capital W.E.I.R.D

As many of you know from reading this blog I have bought a BMX, so I have been enjoying myself, throwing myself off curbs and learning its weight, balance etc

So today I went to the supermarket to buy something for tea and a few beers, on the way I decided to try bunny-hopping my bike, worked fine for many times until I slipped off the right-hand peddle.

Now let me explain, the peddles have 2 mm long metal stubs on them to give you extra grip….. well if you slip off the peddle and it gourges into your shin, they aren’t for grip, they turn into a WMD

So I now have 5 nice gourges up my right shin, bleeding and reminding me…. YOU ARE NOT FUCKING FOURTEEN, ACT YOUR AGE!!

We have had a bushfire in King’s Park in Perth yesterday, it was started deliberately by (what they call them in Australia) a firebug, or arsonist or, if I am frankly honest, an irresponsible bastard.

15 hectares of bushland got destroyed and after the fire service got it under control, some bright spark (no pun intended) decided that they would re-start it at the opposite corner of the park at 3.20pm

So, leaving work last night, the city smelt like smoke with ash falling from the sky.

I heard as well it wasn’t the only one either, Osborn Park was mentioned too.

So this morning as I left to go to the optitions the sky was hazy with smoke and smelt so too.

OK, it’s been hot today, very hot 38 degrees….”sweat rolling down the crack of your arse like Niagara Falls” hot

According to BOM (Bureau of Meteorology) say it is going to be 40 42 (BOM have changed the report for today) degrees tomorrow, the hottest day since I got here.

It’s very hot, too hot. I had to walk into the CBD today for a meeting and it was just burning.

At 7pm tonight it was still over 30 degrees.

In Onslow on the 11th of January this year the temperature hit 49.2 degrees

Bugger me, it’s hot

I have just got back from spending this evening sitting on the grass banking above Cottesloe Beach, with April and Andrew, eating fish and chips as the sun goes down.

It has been hot since Christmas, every day over 35 degrees, pushing at times 39 degrees. Hot in the evenings and hot at night

So sitting there in shorts and t-shirt wasn’t a problem, especially to see this happen….

This is lazy blogging on my behalf, I am blogging about someone elses blog.

Many of you know I am a fan of Hackbash and their last post by Simon evoked the memory again of Bill Hicks and his rant against marketing people. (I have been working with or in marketing in one way or another for many years)

I have been very slack blogging about my holiday and the last 4 weeks. However I am going to slack out once more and give a shout out to my friend Sarah

Sarah is an artist who I have known now for more years than not, anyone who have been to my flats in the UK will have seen her artwork.

The reason I give this shoutout is that as part of my Xmas present I received 5 cards that she had made and have framed them as artwork for my unit here in Perth

I am biased, she rocks, I have 3 pieces of her artwork….. so visit here buy a painting if you like what you see, buy some cards or get a painting commissioned. Either way, let other people know.
